The majority of the BMA site is located in the northern portion of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The park is located in eastern San Diego County to the west and southwest of the Salton Sea in California. The overall area consists of approximately 400 square miles (256,000 acres) of desert terrain and dry lakes.
